What is Transfer of Ownership?

This is the process whereby legal ownership rights of the dog is transferred to a new owner. The said dog could have been sold, gifted or placed for adoption.
Pedigree Certificate

When you purchase a COBA registered dog, that means the breeder would have already recorded your dog's details with us. The person from whom you obtained the dog from should provide you with the Pedigree Certificate which shows his name as the Current Legal Owner [check bottom left on the certificate] and only the Current Legal Owner can initiate the transfer of ownership process into your name using your COBA Registration Number/Mobile/Email and paying the prescribed fee.

By doing this, you are showing an official commitment to your dog's well-being and preserving the pedigree line of your dog with COBA and the correct information is recorded in our Studbook. Additionally, in order to show or breed from your dog, it must be registered with COBA in your name.

The benefits of Transfer of Ownership

  • - The new owner will receive an official personalised COBA Pedigree Certificate in new Owner's name
  • - You can only show dogs registered with COBA in your name
  • - You can only register a litter of puppies from dogs registered with COBA in your name
  • - Your name being listed as the Current Legal Owner gives protection in special arrangements/deals
